What is an MX Record?
Lists the servers that accept email for a domain. Lower priority values are tried first.
Configure incoming mail using the MX names and priorities supplied by your mail provider. The value must be a server hostname, rather than an IP address. With multiple servers, a lower priority number is preferred first. Review the records with a DNS query and a mail infrastructure check.
Example
example.com. 3600 IN MX 10 mail.example.com. — 10 is the priority, and mail.example.com is the mail server name.
Common issue
An MX record does not prove a particular mailbox exists or that a message will be delivered. Missing MX records alone are not conclusive either; mail can sometimes use an implicit route through A or AAAA records.
