What is an NS Record?
Lists the authoritative DNS servers for a domain.
When moving DNS to another provider, prepare both the nameserver delegation at the registrar and the DNS zone at the new provider. An NS query helps you inspect the published server names. Check that the new servers have the necessary web and mail records before making the switch.
Example
example.com. 3600 IN NS ns1.example.net. — The server name is illustrative; use the names supplied by your DNS provider.
Common issue
Adding an NS record within a DNS zone does not automatically update delegation at the registrar. Missing or different records on the old and new servers can produce inconsistent answers during a move.
