What is HTTPS?

HTTP traffic encrypted using TLS.

Connecting to an HTTPS address carries HTTP traffic over TLS. After enabling the service, check the certificate, web response and redirects from HTTP separately. Success in one of these checks does not remove a failure in another.

Example

https://www.example.com/ is an HTTPS address. An example setup can redirect http://www.example.com/ to it; that redirect is configured separately on the web server.

Common issue

A valid HTTPS certificate does not guarantee trustworthy content or a working web application. A valid TLS connection can still return 404, 500 or a redirect loop.
